We are currently looking to recruit a Chinese Sous Chef reporting to
Executive Chef
Scope of Position:
Based at the main kitchen the Chinese Sous Chef plans menus suitable
for Chinese and International clientele, coordinate the procurement of supplies
required for the preparation of Chinese Dishes, prepares Chinese dishes and
oversees the preparation of Chinese dishes by other members of the brigade. The
Chinese Sous Chef also assists the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef with
the smooth and effective management of the culinary operation.
General Requirements:
The individuals must possess the following knowledge skills and
abilities and must be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can
perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable
accommodations, using some other combination of abilities.
- Ability to read, to listen to, comprehend and communicate effectively in English and Chinese / Mandarin / Cantonese both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent mathematical abilities in order to plan, cost and control of food production.
Intrapersonal Skills
- Should be accurate, efficient and methodical in work.
- Able to keep information confidential and should be honest and responsible at all times.
- Should be confident.
- Self motivated and result-oriented.
- Willing to be multi-task trained.
Interpersonal Skills
- Outgoing and friendly, ability to work as part of a multi-national, multi-religious and multi-cultural team.
Preferred nationality: Chinese
Gender: Female/Male
Preferred age: 28 to 40 years
Education and Experience:
- A qualification from a recognized culinary institute with at least 2 years experience as Assistant Sous Chef or above in a culinary operation specializing in Chinese cuisine preferably in mainland china, Hong Kong or Macau.
