Project Manager Vacancy at UNDP Maldives

UNDP Maldives invites qualified and interested candidates to apply for the position of Project Manager – Fares Maathoda Project (Environment and Energy Programme)
.
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Resident Representative (Environment and Energy), The Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for the day-to-day management, administration, coordination, and supervision of project implementation. The PM will lead the project team through the planning, implementation, and delivery of policies, reports, knowledge products, and other results approved in the project document and the project work plan. S/he will provide overall operational management for successful execution and implementation of the project. S/he will be responsible for financial management and disbursements, with accountability to the UNDP.

In carrying out her/his responsibilities, s/he will advocate and promote the work of adaptation to climate change in Maldives and will also closely work and network with the relevant island communities, government agencies, UNDP, UNOPS, the private sector, NGOs, and civil society organizations.

Requirements
• Master’s Degree or equivalent in an Environment related discipline,  International Affairs, Management, Development Studies, Economics, Social or Political Science, Business Administration or in a related field  with atleast 2 years working experience in project management within the disciplines of environmental science, geography, or natural resource management.
• Bachelors Degree in a related field with related work experience can be considered.
• Sound understanding of global development concerns, climate change discourse, adaptation to climate change and related policies
• Ability to network with the private sector, information exchange entities and national and international agencies involved in local and international research on climate change in general, and adaptation in particular
• Excellent inter-personal, communication and negotiating skills
• Ability and willingness to travel within and outside the Maldives
• Demonstrable skills in office computer use - word processing, spread sheets etc.
• Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Dhivehi

Remuneration and contract details
The incumbent will be given a Service Contract for 8 months. Monthly salary MRF 18,000 – 19,000 depending on qualification and experience.
