UNICEF Maldives seeks a National Consultant to assist the School Health of Education Supervision and Quality Improvement Section (ESQID)

Consultant is needed to assist the School Health Unit of Education Supervision and Quality Improvement Division (ESQID) in implementing activities that promote good hygiene practices and behaviors among the children in schools. In addition the activities are intended to help communities to improve hygiene behaviors as well as management of water and sanitation facilities. The consultant will be responsible to edit and streamline the contents of the School Sanitation and hygiene manual that was develop in 2008, which will be used as a training guide for School Health Assistants

Major Tasks to be accomplished:

1. Edit the contents of the training manual that has been developed as per the needs of School Health Unit for Teachers and School Health Assistants on good water, sanitation and environmental hygiene practices.
2. Develop materials that can be used to support and facilitate the training of Teachers and School Health Assistants according to the needs identified by the Unit
3. Field test the manual in two islands – F. Nilandhoo and Dh. Meedhoo

Qualifications or specialized knowledge and / or experience required

Individual having a wide range of experience, reputed in design, development and training and mobilization of schools and communities on environment, water and sanitation education and awareness. Ability to work with diverse communities and empower teachers and children to practice good behavior.
